Canada’s Testing Company offers Item Writing Workshops in English and French for professional groups
all across Canada. The workshop is led by one of our testing experts and can be conducted on-site at an
educational institution or workplace for groups of 10 to 25. A particular emphasis is placed on multiple-choice
item development processes used in professional competency-based testing and is accompanied by hands-on exercises.
Workshops can be focused on post-secondary education in the healthcare sector, but Canada’s Testing Company also offers a generic training session for all post-secondary educators. In order to facilitate more interaction within the workshop,
it is recommended that no more than 25 individuals participate in the workshop.
The one-day interactive workshop is divided into four modules:
- Writing Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs)
- Item Taxonomy
- Statistical Item Analysis
- Alternative Item Types (e.g., short answer, essay)
Here are some reviews by past participants:
“Very relevant to my needs as an educator of students! Practical, useful information.”
“I had no previous experience in exam question writing; as an educator, I now feel better prepared to review and write test questions.”
“I can walk away with more in-depth knowledge and tools I can start using right away!”
“The workshop objectives were clear and precise. Well elaborated and easy to comprehend with examples.”
“I think the workshop should be mandatory for any new instructor.”
Canada’s Testing Company now offers three different types of Item Writing Workshops to groups upon request. For further information, please email corporate@asinc.ca.
