Program audit is an extremely important component of the program development process. It is only through proper evaluation that the efficiency and effectiveness of the program can be determined. Furthermore, the results of the audit process lay the groundwork for the next steps.
Candidate feedback from test surveys is one of several methods for understanding how participants perceive the test program.
Program enhancements may include the development of:
- Preparation Guides with Practice Tests (printed or on CD-ROM) and
- A Predictor Test or Online Readiness Test.
Program maintenance involves the monitoring of the test to ensure its relevance. New items or testing instrument components need to be generated periodically, both for security and currency reasons. When necessary, equating tests is performed to ensure defensibility. Of course, it is during the maintenance period that the standards and competencies begin to lose their currency, with the normal life cycle of a test ranging from three to five years, depending on recent advances in the profession. Therefore, during the third year of administration, planning should begin for a redevelopment process of the testing program. |
